VALLEY QUAD

Suited to anyone who is looking for a board with added volume but surfs active.

This board first started when Jeff Sweeny was looking for a overvolumed surfboard that was still lively and active under his feet. Having some trouble with his shoulders we wanted to increase the paddling efficiency whilst not sacrificing the ability to turn tight and surf dynamic.
I split boards into two categories passive and active, this one sitting somewhat in the middle. Having some trim when planning but having the ability to be dynamic and get feedback from the board when pumping.
Nose to tail vee allows the board to sit on rail with little effort, slight concave added through the tail giving a bit of push back and drive through the tail whilst keeping a little bit more curve throughout the rail line.

Subtle beak and rail chime adds more foam under the chest, simultaneously  keeping a lower soft rail.

This board is ridden around 1/2” - 1” wider than your normal shortboard and around 1/4” thicker.

Suited to anyone who is looking for a board that is easy to catch waves and perform forgiving turns. Aging surfers who still want to lay it on rail.

CUSTOM GLIDER ORDER

ORDER PROCESS

Ordering typically begins with a face-to-face consultation at my studio in Bells Beach. Alternatively, the consultation can take part over email or a phone call. During this process we discuss all the adjustments needed to make the board specific to the surfer.
Turnaround time is around 8 to 10 weeks depending on current work load.

COLOUR

Colour work is a way for me to have a dual response to board expression. Studying Josef Albers ‘Interaction of Colour’ and working with my father Simon Buttonshaw and brother Raphael Buttonshaw, deepened my exploration of colour and its relationship to how surfboards look and feel in the ocean. We can discuss this further throughout the ordering process to find a colourway that connects with you.

FINS

The most positive feedback as been from the True Ames solid glass set. Part of the True Ames in-house designed collection, the TA Quad is our take on a well-rounded, versatile, and go-to option for your favorite 4-fin set up. These fins were built for high-speed surfing, control, arcing turns, and smooth directional changes. The solid glass construction, paired with the medium body and rake lends towards a solid feeling underfoot that will really excel in surf in the chest to overhead range.
